Paranormal Suspense
Las Vegas, Nevada - Present Day
Although it might be her day off, Rose Webb can't help but pursue
a vampire who has committed a felonious act right in front of
her. A Seeker with the Brimstone Syndicate, Rose, a vampire, is
tasked with policing Inhumans and making sure they don't do anything
to reveal themselves to humans. Unfortunately, this particular
vampire has drawn Rose into a trap she doesn't recognize until
it's almost too late. Barely escaping by the skin of her teeth,
Rose quickly realizes that there is more to the story of master
vampire Garret Asp than meets the eye.
Something strange is going on at Brimstone. A few employees are
acting strangely and others are disappearing. Unexpectedly suspended
from the force, Rose suddenly finds herself at the center of a
conspiracy that bodes well for no one, especially Rose herself.
With a werewolf and a goblin as her only allies, Rose must figure
out the mysterious circumstances surrounding the happenings at
Brimstone, not to mention discover who is trying to kill her.
A thrilling mystery with all manner of new and interesting paranormal
creatures, THE BRIMSTONE BETRAYAL is an action-packed adventure
from beginning to end. Rose Webb is the unwitting catalyst for
the events that ensue, with the first encounter with Garret foreshadowing
the rest of the story. Despite her anger at having been turned
into a vampire, Rose is loyal to Brimstone and its ideals, which
makes her very dangerous to those who wish to subvert the organization’s
mission. But Rose isn’t about to give up her quest to unravel
the mystery, despite her tendency to wake up in strange places
after being mortally wounded.
Secondary characters are mainly comprised of Rose’s colleagues
at Brimstone, including her werewolf partner, Toby; her boss Maynard;
Crash, a demon friend, and Karl, an illegal goblin. Throughout
the story, Rose has to continually determine who is friend versus
foe, as trusting the wrong person might get her killed. The plot
is interesting with enough twists and turns to keep readers guessing
and enough humor to keep the tale light. There are a lot of other
key players including the Chithula, Jared, a master vamp with
designs on Rose, and Lucas Nash, a warlock who may have gone bad,
who add to the suspense and Rose’s confusion as she tries
to figure out who is good and who is bad. There are probably a
couple of these characters who could have been left out as their
role wasn’t completely believable or utilized, but it doesn’t
detract from the overall tale.
How far up the ranks of Brimstone does the conspiracy go? Check
out THE BRIMSTONE BETRAYAL and find out.
