Sara Dodd often gets things confused. She might wear mismatched earrings or socks, but she never forgets a friendly face, nor an unfriendly one. And the man growling down at her right now is definitely unfriendly. Jared Cameron is now the ogre in Sara's eyes.

Sara has lived a tough life for someone only nineteen-years-old, but still, she greets each day with a smile and keeps a pleasant outlook on life, and she loves her job at the Jacobsville Book Nook. But that was before the ogre came storming into her space demanding she do his bidding -- immediately! Sara begrudgingly takes his order for several hard cover non-fiction books. No measly paperbacks for this man. He wants the best, and he makes sure Sara knows it, but not until after he ridicules her state of dress! No problem; Sara shrugs off the barbs and matches him dig for dig with her own retorts. Then the ogre has the audacity to demand delivery on Saturday -- her day off! And unfortunately for Sara, her boss, Dee Henderson, agrees to his demands.

Jared Cameron is the mysterious new stranger in the small Texas town of Jacobsville. His bodyguard, Tony the Dancer, follows Jared wherever he goes, never interfering, and always waiting silently beside Jared's large black tank -- commonly called an SUV -- until his boss finishes whatever business it is he’s transacting. Sara thinks the ogre is just a stuck-up and hateful man who cares for nothing else but the money he is so obviously rolling in. Even though Sara is quite young and inexperienced, in so many ways, she’s wise beyond her years, and she fools Jared into believing she's much older and experienced. Before long, they are both caught in a passionate web of no return. Will this May-December relationship turn into a real romance?

Police Chief, Cash Greir, keeps Jared's secrets while still protecting Sara. Sara's new boyfriend, Harry Fowler, is on hand to make Jared jealous, but the most memorable character is Tony the Dancer, whose extraordinary talents lend sparkle and warmth to this romantic tale.
