Highland Park, Texas ~ Present Day

Arriving home late one night, Dex Messina is startled to discover a baby abandoned on the doorstep. The note left behind indicates the little girl belongs to one of the Messina brothers. Instead of calling the police, Dex and Derek take the baby in and, the next morning, start DNA testing to determine which of them is the baby’s father. Whoever the mother is, neither has a clue. Then Lucy Alwin shows up claiming to be the girl’s mother and that she made an error in judgment. But it might be too late to retract her story about the baby’s paternity.

Little Isabella is in fact Lucy’s niece, and Lucy has every intention of adopting the baby, but her twin sister Jewel threw a wrench into the plan by abandoning Isabella on Dex’s doorstep. The problem is that Dex believes he's the father, and now he wants to claim Isabella. Lucy has to figure out a way to get the baby back and Dex out of their lives. But Dex then demands that Lucy temporarily move into his brother’s house (he’s away on business) until the paternity test results are back. Lucy agrees, hoping that living with a baby will sour Dex on fatherhood. However, maybe it isn’t fatherhood Dex is more interested in, but the other fringe benefits of marriage.

The title of BABY ON THE BILLIONAIRE’S DOORSTEP pretty much says it all; however, this is not just another unexpected fatherhood story. First off, there is Dex, who is a man at the crossroads of life, wondering if he’s doing the right thing working with his brother. He’s also temporarily staying in Derek’s guesthouse, but yet doesn’t really feel as if he belongs there. Lucy is desperate to hang onto her niece, even if it means dyeing her hair to make herself look like Jewel.

Dex can’t remember sleeping with “Jewel” but boy, he sure would like to now. Add in a baby who is just, well…a four month old baby, and you get the unlikely mix of a trio who are destined to become a family, even if they distrust each other at first. Of course, it does help that they have the definite hots for each other. The combination of all these factors make BABY ON THE BILLIONAIRE’S DOORSTEP a pleasure to read and one that will keep you glued to the end. My only wish is that it was a tad longer. I would’ve loved to see Derek around a bit more, but I’m glad to see he’ll be getting his own story.

Emily McKay breathes life into the secret baby premise with an entertaining tale in BABY ON THE BILLIONAIRE’S DOORSTEP. Is Dex or Derek really the father of Isabella? Will Jewel come back? Will Lucy get custody? You’ll have to read BABY ON THE BILLIONAIRE’S DOORSTEP to find out. Run to your nearest bookstore and grab your copy today.
