Arizona and New York City, New York - Present Day

With one phone call to save a boy’s life, Ani Carter’s carefully constructed identity comes crashing down. Two years ago, Anastani King witnessed the murder of her father, mother and sister at the hands of the Russian Mafia, and barely escaped with her life. After recovering from her injuries, Ani went into hiding with a new identity, but when the only way to help a family afford the care their son needs is to contact an old client, Ani makes the call.

Over the past year, Daniel Parker has fallen hard for Ani, even though he knows it’s not possible for anything to happen between them. As the Investigator assigned to her case, he can’t get involved with her, but her courage and intelligence amaze him. When her identity is compromised, he’ll do whatever it takes to keep her safe and get her to New York to testify against the man who murdered her family. With the mafia hot on their trail, Daniel and Ani begin the treacherous journey that will hopefully put away the man who ruined her life.

From the first page, MOVING TARGET grabs readers and takes them on an amazing ride. Not only did Ani lose her family, but she also had to leave behind a career she loves and everything familiar to her when she entered the Witness Security Program. Testifying against the man responsible may put him away, but it won’t give Ani her life back, which is why a relationship with Daniel is impossible. From the moment he realizes that her cover has been blown, Ani and Daniel are racing against time and the mafia in order to get to the trial to testify. Though the action is pretty much non-stop, Ani and Daniel do have time to confront their feelings for one another, even though they are both aware that they shouldn’t do anything about those feelings.

The secondary characters are minimal, as most of the book is spent with Ani and Daniel on the run, yet there are a few twists to the story that leave the door open for a possible sequel. A captivating tale that will keep readers on the edge of their seats, I highly recommend MOVING TARGET.
