Romantic Suspense

Detroit, Michigan; Los Angeles, Oakland, and San Francisco, California - Present Day

Beautiful, confident, and competent, Jessi Teresa Blake, a.k.a. JT, is one of the few women sports agents who is at the top of her field. Coming back from a meeting with a potential new client, JT encounters car trouble, and having just bought the car, JT is suspicious. Opening her car's hood, JT finds that her suspicions are justified -- her drive belt has been cut. Immediately, JT knows who the culprit is -- a former employee by the name of Bobby Garrett -- but first things first. JT needs a ride to her Oakland office. A truck driver by the name of Reese Anthony stops to assist JT and offers her a lift.

While cruising up California Highway I-5 North, listening to Frankie Beverly Maze songs on his CD player, Reese notices a driver having car trouble. Pulling over to offer assistance, Reese is stopped in his tracks by the driver who is one of the most beautiful women he has ever seen. They realize that her car is beyond repair, and Reese offers JT a ride and she accepts.

During the drive to Oakland, Reese and JT talk, and they can't help but feel the sexual chemistry between them, but both have some issues. JT dated men in the past whose social and financial situation matched her, but the men always wanted to control her, so it never worked out. JT doesn't think that pursuing anything with Reese, who she believes is a blue-collar man, is going to reap different results. In Reese's case, he occasionally drives a truck for his family's international trucking business. He is also a former cop turned lawyer but, more importantly, he just agreed to work for an old friend, Taylor McNair, who is the new commissioner for the World League of Football.

The body of the head janitor of the L.A. Grizzlies was found outside in the Grizzlies' parking lot. It appears to have been a robbery, or is something else going on? When JT mentions her name, Reese instantly knows who she is, and since Reese is now working for the commissioner, anything between them might be considered a conflict of interest. Reese, not wanting to destroy the vibes between them, decides not to tell JT that he is not just an ordinary truck driver. When the truth comes out, will the chemistry between JT and Reese be destroyed? Is Bobby Garrett, JT's former employee, more of a threat then she realizes? And is there more to the murder of the L.A. Grizzlies' janitor?

DEADLY SEXY is a top-notch romantic suspense story. Jessi Teresa Blake is the older sister of Max Blake who was introduced to readers in Ms. Jenkins previous novel SEXY/DANGEROUS, and like her younger sister, JT is a strong and likeable character. The story will grab readers from the very beginning. Reese and JT's relationship is sensual, easy, and mature. They are two adults who are willing to take their time to see where things might go between them, and readers will enjoy being taken along for the ride. If DEADLY SEXY and SEXY/DANGEROUS are any indication, Ms. Jenkins is a writer who is at the top of her game, able to effortlessly juggle romantic and suspenseful plotlines in multiple settings. The bad guy is really bad, and readers will hope and pray for his downfall.

With its fast pace, interesting hero and heroine, and really good writing, I enjoyed reading DEADLY SEXY, which is why I highly recommend it and hope that interested readers will seek out a copy.
