Romantic Suspense

New York City, New York – Present Day

Seventeen years ago, Morgan Winter lost her parents to a vicious killer. The death of her parents left a void in Morgan’s life, a void that her parents' best friends, Elyse and Congressman Arthur Shore, tried to fill. Now the man who confessed to the murder has been proven a liar. There are witnesses who place him across town involved in the killing of a police officer at the same time the Winters were killed.

Former Detective Peter Montgomery was the investigator in the Winters homicides, and he remembers the shattered little girl at the crime scene. When word that the wrong man was convicted of the crime reaches Pete, he feels it is his duty to break the news to Morgan.

When Pete delivers the news, Morgan is understandably upset, yet more than that, she is determined to find the person who killed her parents. Morgan hires Pete, now a private detective, to re-open the investigation into the murder. Meanwhile, the District Attorney’s office is also considering re-opening the case; after all, Jack Winter had been a District Attorney when he was killed, and with Congressman Shore pressing for answers, the DA will have to walk a very thin line.

Lane Montgomery, Pete’s son, joins the investigation using his expertise in photography. A photo journalist by profession, and involved in covert work for the government, Lane has contacts that will prove more than helpful in the investigation. Lane relishes working with his father, but he hadn’t counted on the immediate and fierce attraction he feels for Morgan. Morgan is just as drawn to Lane, despite the torment she is suffering and the veiled hint of danger that constantly surrounds her.

DARK ROOM is an intense, action packed novel filled with powerful emotion and high-octane suspense. The synopsis above barely scratches the surface of a tale that has more layers than an onion. Murder, sex, scandal and politics fill the pages. As the investigation twists and turns with seemingly no answers, danger stalks Morgan.

While the romance in the story is between Winter and Lane, a multitude of secondary characters play key roles in the mystery of who killed Jack and Lara Winter. Each character is meticulously drawn. Congressman Arthur Shore is a consummate politician, and Elyse is the perfect political wife. But even their storybook relationship is filled with shadows. Charlie Dean, the Assistant District Attorney, once interned under Paul Winter and wants to help find his killer, but not at the price of his job. Politics makes strange bedfellows, and sometimes those we should be able to trust are the last ones we should. Readers who have read the phenomenal WRONG PLACE, WRONG TIME will be delighted to catch up with Pete Montgomery and his wife Sally in DARK ROOM.

If you crave a well-written murder mystery laced with romance, scandal, and politics, DARK ROOM fills the bill PERIOD A fabulous novel by one of the best writers in the genre, DARK ROOM is sure to be a hit with readers. I highly recommend it.
