Present Day Texas and Mexico

At the age of thirteen, young Cat Dupree witnessed the murder of her father by a madman named Solomon Tutuola. He cut her throat and left her to die beside her father, but somehow Cat survived. All grown up, Cat is now a bounty hunter and is on the trail of Tutuola. With the aid of her lover, Wilson McKay, the two track down Tutuola to blow him to smithereens. However, something tells Cat that he's not dead, and so she turns on the tracker that was planted in the car they had left behind. Sure enough, the blip on her screen lights up and starts moving. She leaves town without telling anyone except her boss where she's going and what she's up to. Unfortunately, that might be the worst decision Cat's ever made.

Wilson McKay is in love with Cat Dupree, although at times he's not sure why. The woman won't admit she cares for him, says it's only sex instead of making love and gets antsy when he mentions anything about commitment. After the last time they were together, Wilson got angry when he found out Cat left town and hadn't bothered to tell him. He's worried sick that she's in danger and too stubborn to call for help. One night he has a dream that Cat is calling for him but he can't find her. He wakes up in a cold sweat and calls her boss demanding to know where the hell Cat is. Once he learns, Wilson is more worried than ever.

Then in the wee hours of the morning, Wilson's phone rings...it's Cat, and she's in deep trouble. Can Wilson find her in time?

Man oh man! Talk about a nail-biting, too good to put down book. That's exactly what Sharon Sala's CUT THROAT is. From the very first action-packed page, readers are drawn into the lives of Cat and Wilson. After the death of her father, Cat was shuffled around from one foster home to another until she was old enough to take care of herself. Relationships aren't easy for her so she keeps them on the surface, never letting anyone in. She is a loner, depending on no one but herself, figuring that way she won't be hurt. Wilson is a good man. Strong, tough, he loves deep and forever. His family is loving, devoted to one another and there whenever they are needed. The attraction between Cat and Wilson is powerful, and that scares Cat. And when Wilson tells her those three little words every woman wants to hear...she's scared spitless. When Cat is nearly killed, Wilson comes to her rescue and takes her to his family home to recuperate. Cat isn't happy about that, but once she arrives and meets Wilson's parents, she starts to let her guard down. Will it be enough for Wilson to break through the barriers separating them or will Cat turn tail and run...again? Secondary characters include Wilson's mother and father who are very special people and show Cat what it means to belong and feel love; a buddy of Wilson's who helps him rescue Cat, and Cat's boss, who loves her like his own daughter.
