AUTOGRAPHS, ABDUCTIONS AND A-LIST AUTHORS - JL Wilson

ISBN: 1-60154-258-5
June 2008
Romantic Suspense

Abilene, Texas; Present Day

B.R. Emerson is attending the Mystery/Romance Writers and Readers national convention for the very first time after she finds success in her first published novel. While she’s getting a famous author’s autograph for her mother, the author dies suddenly and mysteriously. Detectives L.J. Remarchik and Dan Haney are immediately suspicious of the author’s death, especially since the woman was competing with B.R. for the Silver Stylus Award in the romantic suspense category. B.R., known to her friends as Ralph, can’t believe that she is even under suspicion for murder; she just happened to be standing there when the woman died.

AUTOGRAPHS, ABDUCTIONS AND A-LIST AUTHORS offers a humorous and sometimes grim view of the publishing world. The plot moves along quickly, and readers will enjoy the colorful secondary characters. Particular favorites include Ralph’s friends, Sadie and Barb, who come to her rescue after the author’s death. They call a lawyer and brave the visit to the police station. They also watch over Ralph when the hunky older detective, L.J., starts to show some romantic interest in her.

L.J. and Ralph have great chemistry as they move through the murder investigation. L.J. is clearly besotted with Ralph despite the investigation. Readers will enjoy watching this distinguished older gentleman fall for Ralph. Ralph is a wonderful heroine. She isn’t ashamed to be herself, and she enjoys her imperfect body. The dialogue is catchy, and the plot is appealing. For a great read with mature characters, I recommend AUTOGRAPHS, ABDUCTIONS AND A-LIST AUTHORS.
