Hawaii, Colorado, Kansas, and Texas – Present
Day
Climbing the side of a cliff in Hawaii is exactly
the way security expert Mark Callahan chooses to crash this particular
party, so when he finally reaches the top, he gets an eye full
of a sexy woman in a low cut, almost backless red dress –
and has to remind himself that he's not there to get distracted
by a pretty, ah, backside. Mark promised to bust this party of
pornographic beauties, rescue Sophia Garza, and take her out of
harm's way. Sophia is being kept prisoner against her will, and
even though Mark thinks she almost deserves her fate, the Garza
sisters, Maria and Juanita, who live back in his hometown of Brazos,
Texas, are like his own family. Just for them, he'll rescue the
wayward Sophia from the wealthy porn magnate, Harvey Selzer. Uh,
oh. Mark's in trouble. When the lovely in the red dress turns
around, she isn't some no-name actress, instead, Mark is faced
with none other than Annabelle Monroe, his ex-wife. And, complicating
matters, Mark discovers an old enemy at her side, low life Eastern
European operative Boris Radovanovic, the man responsible for
killing Mark's brother John.
Private Investigator Annabelle Monroe doesn't have
time for Mark now. She's at this party for one reason only, to
infiltrate Rad's organization and rescue a young girl whose death
is scheduled for tonight when Harvey and Rad get together on their
newest venture, snuff films. And if Annabelle's job means that
she has to make nice with Radovanovic, then so be it. But right
now the danger is palpable, and Annabelle knows she's got only
seconds to contain Mark's anger before it explodes and messes
up her plans to save that girl's life. She has to get Mark away
from Rad, so she maneuvers him into a linen closet. And then she
realizes her mistake. This isn't the best or the safest place
to be trapped with Mark. The last time they were in a closet they
ended up married in Las Vegas, not to mention that they have a
history of making wild, passionate love whenever they get caught
inside small, close places.
Mark and Annabelle ALWAYS LOOK TWICE after they discover
there's someone with a grudge against the Fixers, their former
team of twelve covert operators under the command of Colonel Greg
Warren, now stationed in the Pentagon. Their days of taking out
spies and drug dealers might be over, but now a cold-blooded killer
is killing the Fixers, one by one. And he or she isn't stopping
at the Fixers alone, but is also turning on their families, leaving
Mark and Annabelle racing to stay on their toes, stay alive, and
keep their families safe. Lots of other characters populate the
pages. Mark's brothers are former operatives themselves; his twin
Luke (former DEA agent) and older brother Matt (former CIA agent)
and their wives, Maddie and Tori, provide lots of action and humor.
Annabelle's mother, Lynn Monroe, and her father Frank are also
instrumental in this story, as well as many of the former Fixers,
like Harrington and Kincannon, who help Mark and Annabelle out
of some tight spots.
Geralyn Dawson throws you right smack in the middle
of the action, so hang on as you crack open the cover in ALWAYS
LOOK TWICE. The third in The Callahan Brothers series, it follows
GIVE HIM THE SLIP (October 2006, Maddie and Luke's story) and
NEVER SAY NEVER (October 2007, Tori and Matt's story). ALWAYS
LOOK TWICE stands alone, and though I haven't read the other stories,
I am definitely going to catch up very soon!
You won't get much chance to catch your breath with
this book. ALWAYS LOOK TWICE is a roller coaster ride that wraps
up all the loose threads into a neat bundle, gives us lots of
passionate embraces, and leaves a new cliff-hanging mystery for
the next installment. Don't miss it!
