Romantic Suspense

Boston, Massachusetts - Present Day

Since the day he was sidelined by the FBI after receiving a debilitating injury, Daniel Pierce has been by turns angry, frustrated, and bored. His current gig as an Assistant U.S. Attorney, while interesting, doesn’t compare to his former life as a field agent. That’s all about to change, though. All it takes is the entrance of one woman into his life, Vivienne Foster. With her feisty spirit and slightly offbeat air, it’d be hard to be bored around her. Okay, there’s also the whole kidnapping him from a charity event, cold cocking him with a gun, and informing him that he’s about to die thing too, but hey, beggars can’t be choosers. Daniel is suddenly alive again, and it’s all her fault.

Vivienne “Vivi” Foster is the real deal. A psychic with a dedicated clientele, she’s learned to pay attention to her visions and what they’re screaming about now is saving Daniel. True, you wouldn’t think a former FBI man would need the protection of a psychic, but the man has an annoying habit of putting himself in harm’s way, and Vivi isn’t about to let him die on her watch. Nope, she’s got enough of a guilty conscience eating at her every day, what with that deadly mistake in her past. The one Mr. I-can-take-care-of-myself Pierce would crucify her for if he knew.

Danger is ever-present in ACE IS WILD, and the sparks fly between Daniel and Vivi as they try to take on the Irish Mob and survive. Daniel is a man with a conscience, sure that he could be better put to use in the field, not retired to the courtrooms. Heck, he’s been so bored he’s considered running for office! Vivi brings him back to life, aching, gritty life complete with the desire for passion (specifically Vivi’s passion). Vivi on the other hand is undeniably alive. Determined and quick-witted, she’s bound to keep Daniel safe even as she resists her attraction to him. A woman with secrets can’t afford to get close to a man. Especially one as dangerous and sinfully hard to resist as Daniel. Is love in the cards for these two, or will this be their last hand? You never know what will happen when the ACE IS WILD.

Cassandra Hobbs is one ticked-off socialite when Vivi interrupts her bachelor auction, kidnaps Daniel, and humiliates her in the process. However, that doesn’t mean she and her daughter, Alex Scott (whose romance with Tag Donovan was written about in TAG, YOU’RE IT!), won’t be helpful when the chips are down. Daniel’s friend, Patrice Hanlon, could be helpful as well; she is, after all, intimately acquainted with the Irish Mob. But will jealousy over Vivi’s entrance into Daniel’s life influence her? Tony Sappresi is a Mob man as well (as you’ve probably guessed by the name, not Irish Mob). Daniel is going after Tony for murder, and that’s bound to put a target on his back. Joe Flynn is Patrice’s uncle. Is he getting ready to take over the Irish Mob and create a new era of violence in the vacuum left by Tony Sappresi’s arrest and possible conviction? Then there’s Rudy Manetti, Tony’s nephew and one determined reporter. A troublemaker for sure; what’s his interest in Vivi and Daniel? Oh, I can’t forget Hatch and Flip, a couple of Boston “Southies” who want nothing more than to complete their mission...seeing Daniel dead. Any one of these characters could be behind the vision of Daniel’s death Vivi keeps having. Which one (or more) is it? Well, that would ruin the surprise now wouldn’t it?

The third in a connected set of books, this novel stands well on its own. That doesn’t mean, however, that you shouldn’t seek out the first two, ALL JACKED UP (April 2007) and TAG, YOU’RE IT! (July 2007) as they are sure to be winners as well if they’re anything like this one. If you like your stories action packed, your characters quick witted, and some sizzling sexual tension for spice, you’re sure to love ACE IS WILD.
