Cincinnati, Ohio –
Present Day
The apprehension of rogue agent Adrian Padgett, who
is about to unleash a terrible computer virus, has consumed OPUS
agent Lila Moreau’s life, and she will not stop until the
man is caught. When her employer, Office for Political Unity and
Security, assigns another agent, Joel Faraday, to assist her,
Lila is enraged. She works alone, and nobody completes assignments
better than she. Right from the start, Lila sets Joel straight
on who is running the investigation.
Arriving at Waverly College in Cincinnati where Adrian
is suspected to be, the two pretend to be a couple and set a trap
for Adrian by making contact with persons suspected of working
for the rogue agent. Several are part of a college frat pack,
whose lives seem consumed by video games and who can be the most
obnoxious. Then there’s Iris, another student, who has her
own little secrets she doesn’t want exposed. Are Lila and
Joel on the right track? Oh, and can Lila and Joel be in each
other’s constant company and continue to ignore the desire
that runs hot and heavy between them?
OVERNIGHT MALE is the third and final book in Elizabeth
Bevarly’s OPUS series that began with YOU’VE GOT MALE
and continued with EXPRESS MALE. Readers were intrigued by the
mysterious Lila Moreau and now get to learn more about her. She’s
a woman who makes no apologies for her sometimes murky and sordid
past. She did whatever it took to capture the bad guys. She’s
not looking for a relationship because, well, they require commitment.
But as each day passes, Lila finds herself drawn to Joel. Not
a good thing, since once their assignment is over, Lila has no
intention of seeing Joel again.
Joel is alternately amused and befuddled by Lila.
He knows she’s smart and independent, but darn it, they
are supposed to be working with, not against each other. Joel
is fairly laid back, and his job is to make sure Lila doesn’t
get into too much trouble, since suddenly this emotionless agent
is showing definite signs of emotion. Could he be the reason?
The deeper they delve into the Adrian Padgett case, the closer
Lila and Joel become. Can Joel convince her that maybe there is
something to the sparks between them?
OVERNIGHT MALE comes action packed with an intriguing
and quirky cast of characters that will have you chuckling. The
college frat pack inspires the bulk of laughter, while readers
will sympathize with Iris’s desire to let her past stay
there. The plot is fast paced, and everything is neatly tied up
in the end. Readers also get more insight into Adrian Padgett,
as he has his own secondary plot in OVERNIGHT MALE. Can a bad
guy make up for his sins? However, by the time the story ends,
there just may be more than one happily-ever-after. What more
can a reader want?
If you haven’t already read YOU’VE GOT
MALE and EXPRESS MALE, then I highly recommend you read them before
starting OVERNIGHT MALE to understand what happened before. It
won’t lessen the enjoyment if you don’t, but it's
a good way to see how it all began.
In the meantime, put OVERNIGHT MALE on the top of
your to-be-read pile today!
