Earth and Anqar

Since she was a child, Lee has had very vivid dreams at night. So real, in fact, that she often awoke with bruises and cuts though she never physically left her bed. As an adult, Lee has channeled the feelings and memories of those dreams into her art. But there is a constant ache in her heart for a man she barely remembers. Could he be real?

Kalen has been fighting for his people all of his life. Anqar was always occasionally beset by demons and Warlords looking to kidnap women for breeding, but the raids and attacks have grown in strength and frequency the last few years. So much so that his people are in hiding and the land itself is dying. In his heart, Kalen knows Lee is their savior, but until she realizes it, along with the fact that she belongs on Anqar rather than Earth, his people are doomed.

Then a miracle happens, and Lee returns fully to Anqar instead of just in her dreams. Unfortunately, she didn’t make it back with all of her memories intact. Will she remember how to fight before it’s too late? Even more important, is she really the key to saving Anqar or just a pawn in a game?

Action, adventure, and romance abound in Shiloh Walker’s THROUGH THE VEIL. Lee and Kalen are made for each other, and their connection is immediately apparent. Readers can’t help but root for them to get together. The mystery surrounding the gates between Anqar and Istan, the home world of the Warlords, builds slowly at first, but is a bit of a disappointment; not because it’s badly written, but because it feels like the story was cut short or rushed to the ending. The development of Lee’s powers, the revelation of the different factions and their agendas with respect to the war, and betrayals all could have been drawn out a little further. Frankly, I wanted more from these characters.

Despite this, THROUGH THE VEIL is an engaging tale. Lee and Kalen will draw the reader in and leave them wanting to see more of this strong-willed couple.
