Minneapolis, Minnesota - Present Day

As a roving Gineal Troubleshooter, Creed Blackwood fights demons to protect humans. Though his is magic is strong, he has always had to fight against the dark forces that try to tempt all Troubleshooters to use dark magic. In the past few months, he has felt the presence of the dark inside himself much deeper than ever before, and Creed has become vulnerable to the suggestions of a powerful demon god, now known as Seth, who has entered his mind. Other characters include Deke Summers, Ryne's fiancé; and Mrs. Olsen, Maia's elderly neighbor. Deke knows that Creed had once planned to pair with Ryne in order to enhance his powers. He was also present when Creed withheld facts from Ryne that left her vulnerable to a vicious attack. A high tension vibrates among the three Troubleshooters that endangers all of them. Mrs. Olsen helps bring out Creed's good character and caring nature, making him even more enticing to Maia.

Creed is trying to uphold the oaths he took to protect humans and stay in light magic, but fighting powerful demons constantly wears on his mental shields. Maia is filled with guilt for falling into dark magic and having to give up being a Troubleshooter. She is a nurturer by nature, and her concern for him is a new experience for the solitary Creed. No one has ever been worried for him the way Maia is, and he is unwillingly drawn to her. Strong characters, imaginative monsters, and intense battles highlight the terrific storyline.
