Paranormal Romance
Greece and New York – Present Day
More than anything, Jake Lowell would like to be
human. The evil demons made him into an Astaroth demon so that
he is invisible, and when they had his talisman, he was forced
to do their bidding or suffer terrible pain (see book 2, BOUND
BY FLAME). When Jake becomes visible in his Astaroth form, he
is a large creature with golden eyes, white hair, fangs, claws,
and a huge set of leathery wings. He can also change himself into
human form and become a handsome man. Jake has been in Greece
trying to get help from the Mother Sibyl, but she has been unable
to find a solution to his problem. The Sibyls are a group of women
warriors with elemental paranormal powers, members of the Dark
Crescent Sisterhood, who fight the Legion demons and other evil.
Merilee Alexander is a wind Sibyl who fights alongside
her earth and fire Sibyl friends. Merilee can call up the wind
and uses a bow and arrow in her fight against the Legion. She
begins having nightmares about a frightening incident that happened
when she was a child. The Keres death spirits came rushing toward
her shrieking, smelling like rot and blood. She was saved only
by jumping to the ground. Why are they back now?
Jake is the younger brother of two New York police
officers who work for the Occult Crimes Unit. He has just been
hired to work with the OCU and has temporary quarters at the OCU
Headquarters where Merilee resides. He is very attracted to Merilee,
and when she meets him, her heart stops. She is amazed that she
could be so attracted to a demon!
Bartholomew August arrives in New York City to be
met by his son and his son’s mother who have been spying
on the Sibyls for him and doing his bidding even though they hate
him. Bartholomew takes human form; he is the last old Legion demon
and is very powerful. Disdainful of humans, he hopes to find women
who can bear him strong sons for the Legion and relieve him of
his loneliness. When he enters the city, the paranormals move
out with such a frightening threat in their midst, but the OCU
is on full alert, and Merilee is paired with Jake.
Merilee is psychically attacked by a creature she
calls the Stoneman. She doesn’t know what it is, but she
is terrified and unable to fight back. August sees the beautiful,
strong Sibyl and decides she and the other Sibyls will be the
mothers of his demon children. Will Jake be able to keep Merilee
safe from the malevolent demon?
The third novel of the Dark Crescent Sisterhood and
Merilee’s story, BOUND BY LIGHT can stand alone, but for
added enjoyment, readers may want to read book one of this trilogy,
BOUND BY SHADOW, and book two, BOUND BY FLAME. Merilee is able
to displace air; she can create fierce winds and is a perfect
shot with her bow and arrow. Jake is in awe of her, but believes
that because he is an Astaroth, he is not worthy of this beautiful
woman. He is fearful of his demon nature, determined to keep it
under control.
Ms. Windsor has created an unusual and frightening
world where the Sibyls protect the populace. She projects vivid
word pictures of demons, witches, and ghosts that will terrify
readers. This story has a lot of sexual tension, the pacing is
good, and the story is packed with action, violence, and romance.
BOUND BY LIGHT completes the Dark Crescent Sisterhood series,
and readers who enjoy paranormal romances won’t want to
miss these exciting tales.
