Paranormal Romance

La Sombra, California – Present Day

Cassidy Burke is a demon duster; she kills demons by ripping their hearts out. Cassidy is highly incensed to discover that a website is only offering $10,000.00 for her, dead or alive (preferably dead) -- she feels she should be worth at least $50,000.00! Cassidy’s ex-boyfriend, Logan, moved back to La Sombra recently and is establishing a relationship with his and Cassidy’s daughter, Thea. He is interested in Cassidy, but she is dating the demon, Devlin, and does not want to get involved with Logan, a local police officer, even though she is still attracted to him.

A handsome six-foot-five man comes to Cassidy’s door looking for sanctuary and introduces himself as Brady, claiming to be a faery. Cassidy is disappointed at first, but Brady grabs her and kisses her, telling her that he is not that kind of a faery. He desperately needs help warding off Vanessa, the queen of the demons. He explains that he was Vanessa’s sex slave for two years, and he has been waiting for a demon duster strong enough to kill the evil queen; as long as Cassidy grants him sanctuary and he stays in her house, demons cannot touch him. When a demon arrives looking for Brady, Cassidy grabs her trusty demon spray and dispatches the evil creature.

Cassidy finds that her popularity has increased when demons try to kill her to get Brady and the reward. Jasmine, a trainer in the art of demon dusting, tells Cassidy that she is not strong enough to take on the demon queen, but will she listen? Brady wants freedom from Vanessa, but does not want Cassidy to lose her life in the process. Logan does not want to believe in demons even though he has seen them turn to dust.

A very funny fantasy romance, A FIEND IN NEED will have readers laughing and gasping at the hot sex throughout the story as Cassidy suddenly finds herself with three men vying for her attention. She will do whatever it takes to protect her daughter. She loves Brady’s cooking, and he excels at a few other things as well. She has only been a demon duster for a month, but is getting very good at what she does. Logan, Devlin, and Brady -- which man can hold her interest? Or do they all? Is she strong enough to defeat the evil demon queen?

Readers who enjoy a hot, paranormal comedy are sure to like this well written tale. Cassidy will be back in duster mode in Ms. Child’s next book, where Cassidy battles Maab, the faery queen.
