Paranormal Romance Present Day
Catherine Crawfield (aka Cat) has spent the last four years making
the special vampire-fighting FBI squad a force to be reckoned
with. But in the four years since she left behind Bones, the vampire
she loved, in order to keep him safe, her heart still hasn’t
mended. It certainly doesn’t help when she runs into one
of Bones’s friends on an assignment. But that part of her
life is over. Isn’t it?
Well, according to Bones when he slams back into her life in
a most unexpected way, no, it’s not. For four years he’s
searched for Cat, and now that he’s found her, he’s
not about to let her go, especially with a price on her head.
It seems that someone wants Cat dead by any means necessary, and
no one touches Bones’s woman. Even more threatening is the
fact that Ian, the vampire Cat spared because he was Bones’s
friend, now wants her as well. As Ian is Bones’s Sire (or
fang daddy as Cat likes to call it), technically anything that
belongs to Bones belongs to Ian.
So, Cat has her man back, but along with him comes a few problems.
First, her mother hates vampires and will take every opportunity
to try to kill Bones. Second, Cat’s team hates vampires
and will take every opportunity to try to kill Bones. Is Cat willing
to give up love for peace?
Well, I didn’t think Jeaniene Frost could top HALFWAY TO
THE GRAVE, but I have been thoroughly proven wrong. ONE FOOT IN
THE GRAVE has the same joie de vivre of the first book in the
series that makes for a wild and exhilarating ride. Cat and Bones
are a perfect match, and woe to anyone who tries to get between
them now that they’ve found each other again. Amidst the
various vampire and ghoul rumbles, Bones manages to romance Cat
and fight with her mother, all while Cat’s drinking copious
amounts of gin trying to figure out what’s happening with
her life. The humorous dialogue between the characters and the
depth of the love between Cat and Bones keep the plot moving smoothly,
and before you know it, the book is over leaving readers wanting
more.
I highly recommend readers pick up ONE FOOT IN THE GRAVE by Jeaniene
Frost, who has raced to the top of my list of favorite authors.
The first book in the series earned the coveted RRT Perfect 10,
and I could award ONE FOOT IN THE GRAVE no less.
