Fantasy Romance

Normandy, France, and Grey Loch, Scotland

When Fae King of Light Arran's rule is threatened by his half-fae/half-succubus daughter and Queine of the Dark, Elphina, he must enlist the help of his estranged son, Gavin. Gavin's mother, Queine Geraldine, sought refuge in the mortal realm of Scotland in order to protect his life from the battle between Light and Dark while he was still an infant. The separation left Geraldine an invalid and has been slowly weakening Arran and his powers. Gavin has no idea that he is half fae and possesses powerful magic. In order to fight in the fae realm, he must be told of his heritage and trained to use his power. Arran selects two White Ladies, guardian of water, Nakkole, and her sister, Timpani, to seek out and convince Gavin that he is the Isle of Arran's only hope of survival.

Nakkole has never been to the mortal realm, but has always been fascinated by the humans who have crossed her path. She and Timpani arrive in Scotland on May Beltane, and Nakkole cannot resist joining the festivities. Little does Nakkole know that the man she is dancing with, has used a charm upon, and shared her first kiss with, is her future King. Appalled by her behavior, she vows to do better, but when Gavin continues to show interest in her, Nakkole cannot resist him. Timpani works overtime to keep Nakkole on task. When the Dark forces arrive in Scotland and threaten Gavin, they must tell him of his heritage before he is ready to acknowledge such things as magic exist. Gavin's interest turns to distrust, and Nakkole must find a way to save Gavin, her King, and her homeland, as well as her heart.

DESTINY'S WARRIOR is filled with all manner of monsters and fae from both myth and fable. Arran is a classic hero, rescued from harshness by a love that he set free in order to save. Nakkole is naive, innocent, and intent on her duties. Gavin feels the burden of being responsible for his village and becomes almost petulant in his refusal of his true destiny. Elphina broods about her father's refusal of her and is wonderfully wicked in her vengeance. The Light forces must overcome succubi, banshees, peches, maras, incubi, and other monsters gathered by Elphina. The encounters between the Dark and the Light are fierce and bloody. The plot is both charming and suspenseful enough to keep interest high, but small distractions pop-up from slightly uneven writing. The final chapters are a highlight with its quick pacing and some surprises. DESTINY'S WARRIOR is a tale that fantasy buffs will relish.
