Contemporary Romance Anthology

Get right down to the naked truth with four stories that feature women who have hilarious fun and meet the guys who capture their hearts. What a special treat for the end of summer.

The Winning Truth – Erin McCarthy
Cleveland, Ohio ~ Present Day

Tansey Reynolds is feeling pretty crappy toward life, and men, right now. Her friend drags her to an audition to be one of four contestants chosen to reside together in one car. The one who lasts the longest is the winner. Tansey thinks it sounds like a terrible thing to do, but the car looks good. So does the hunky blonde construction worker with the nice looking tools…er…tool belt.

This is not some place J.T. Kowalski would normally be, but his father’s construction company needs the influx of cash that winning the contest would bring. The cute female who’s eyeing his body appears a bit flaky, but the spark is definitely there between them. To no one’s surprise, they are two of the four chosen to live in the car. Will J.T. and Tansey survive being holed up in a car with two other contestants?

The Winning Truth is a great start to the book. What a cute and funny story I wish had been longer. Tansey is smart mouthed, but never brash. She’s the quintessential working girl, and J.T. is just the man to get her engine running…even in a car with a camera pointed at them 24 hours a day. Erin McCarthy’s keen wit shines in The Winning Truth, and this is my favorite of the four stories.

The Naked Truth About Guys – Alesia Holliday
Seattle, Washington ~ Present Day

C.J. Murphy writes a popular newspaper column that wins raves, but her love life sucks. Sure, she gets marriage proposals, but it would nice to actually have a date with a man before she’s asked. Her latest “sight unseen” conquest is the shortstop from the Seattle Mariners. He’s young and eager, but is he the right one for C.J.? Everyone except C.J. thinks so.

Hugh Leonard is new to the Seattle Times, but to C.J. he’s just a bit too cutesy, even if he does knock her socks off. While C.J.’s trying to fight off her shortstop, Hugh’s there to lend his wit and wisdom. Who will finally win C.J., or is she doomed to remain single?

There are a lot of characters in The Naked Truth About Guys, but once they're all figured out, it’s a funny story. C.J.’s column attracts interesting characters who see her as Ms. Right, but they turn out to be Mr. Wrongs. Hugh is amused by all the commotion around C.J. and her love life. Fast paced and witty, it’s another pleaser.

Truth or Dare – Donna Kauffman
Carmel-by-the-Sea, California ~ Present Day

Former soap opera writer Bailey Madison and filmmaker Noah Morrissey had once been involved in a hot affair. But like any hot flame, it eventually flickered out. Now they have been hired by a billionaire to write and record his life story. Bailey resents Noah’s presence, especially when he apparently wants to pick up where they left off.

Noah has never forgotten Bailey, and while he understands her resentment, he has a job to do also. It doesn’t help that they’re thrown together by the billionaire. Working closely together, Noah's and Bailey’s libidos are soon cranking into high gear. Is it enough to rekindle their romance?

Sparkling humor highlights Truth or Dare. Bailey needs the job and sees Noah as an interloper she wasn’t expecting when she got the job. It doesn’t help that she’s still attracted to him. For Noah, their affair was hot and fast, and he never really got to know Bailey. Now he’s learning what makes her tick. Donna Kauffman combines a sizzling romance with tender scenes that results in a deliciously fun tale.

Nothing But The Truth – Beverly Brandt
Naples, Florida ~ Present Day

Madison Case has had her fill of lies and deceit. She decides that from now on, it is going to be nothing but the truth. However, trying to juggle a “Marry Me” party on Valentine’s Day, and her sister who happens to be married to Madison’s ex, it’s hard to keep sane. One potential catastrophe after another has Madison’s teeth on edge. Too bad she doesn’t have a man to share the day with. Of course, she doesn’t have time to stop and actually find out what her ex’s divorce attorney, Scott Seaver, wants to ask her.

Nothing But The Truth is another humorous story, but most of it is about the “Marry Me” bash and Madison’s juggling to make sure the party goes off without a hitch. In between, she has her sister’s marriage -- yes, to her ex -- to worry about. Of the four stories, this delightful tale by Beverly Brandt has less romance, but for pure fun, Nothing But The Truth hits the spot.

Each short story in THE NAKED TRUTH is distinctive, but they have one thing in common: enough humor to tickle your funny bone. The romances take a back seat to the humorous situations and witty dialogue, but never fear; our heroines will end up with a guy before it's over. Don’t miss THE NAKED TRUTH for four stories that are a sure fire way to spend some enjoyable time.
