Bishop Falls, Texas – Present Day Jackson Knight is a star NFL player, but after an injury and a scandal that made his name mud, he needs a fresh start, even if only temporary. His agent hooks him up with a high school in Texas that is desperately in need of a coach for their team. Jackson accepts it sight unseen and arrives in town to a hero’s welcome. Well, he wasn’t expecting that, or the mascot dog that comes with the house he is given as part of the job. Jackson soon learns that while the team is good, it hasn’t won the state championship in years, and everyone feels it is due to a curse. Years ago, a star player was injured during a game and was paralyzed. He eventually died, but the memory lives on. In fact, Jackson soon meets the player’s sister, Calla Dunne, who now hates football after watching what happened to her brother. She is a local reporter, and while she thinks Jackson is a spoiled athlete, the sparks fly between them. While THE PERFECT PASS revolves around football, this tale is about Jackson’s journey from being a star player to becoming a coach of a small-town high school football team. He didn’t want the job, but his reputation was shot after the scandal. He has been recuperating from his injury, but no team is willing to sign him. A fresh start, even a temporary one, is his best hope. Jackson arrives and discovers that football in Texas is a big deal. The dog, however, wasn’t part of what he expected. The bulldog has its own issues, and Jackson needs to find a way to not only get along with people in town but also take care of the dog. Meanwhile, Calla is lurking on the fringes. He’s interested in her, but his attention should be focused on the job. Despite their initial animosity, Calla helps Jackson to become acclimated to Bishop Falls. The romance takes a back seat in THE PERFECT PASS, as there are no kisses or love scenes. It’s an emotional journey for Jackson, and he takes Calla along for the ride as she finally gets over what happened to her brother. The coaching job is for one season, and he must win the state title. Will he succeed, and then stay on in town? Is the romance brewing between Jackson and Calla only fleeting?
