Get Lost Lodge, Michigan – Present Day Charlotte “Charlie” Ashford and Grayson Keller first encounter each other as she is checking into a hotel. She is having trouble finding her credit card, and after she storms away from the front desk, it’s Gray who finds her card and delivers it to her. Sparks fly, but neither is ready for a romantic night together. Charlie figures she will never see Gray again, but later discovers that he is one of the owners of the Get Lost Lodge, where she’ll be staying with her great uncle. It’s clear that he’s interested in her, but she can’t get too close to him because that would mean revealing who she is. Charlie is the only child of a famous deceased rock star. Her mother recently got engaged, which was fine with Charlie, but the couple wanted to have the whole family participate in a reality show. Charlie’s negative reaction was filmed by her future stepsisters and posted online in a now viral post. Charlie hates the spotlight, and she is in Michigan to escape it. Three years ago, Gray and his siblings, Beckett and Jilly, bought the lodge and have been building a nice clientele on a ferry-access-only island. MAYBE THIS ONCE is the third book in the Rock Bottom Love series, and we get caught up on the two couples from the prior books, LOVE, NATURALLY, and GET LOST WITH YOU. While this tale can be read as a standalone, I encourage readers to grab a copy of the two prior books to get a sense of the family dynamics. The family is getting ready for Beckett and Presley’s wedding, and Jilly has news of her own to share. Gray was once married, but his wife fell out of love with him. As such, he now views marriage negatively. He respects Charlie’s do-not-touch attitude, but she continues to intrigue him. She will be in the area for six months as she will be teaching at a local college. After that? Who knows where she’ll be? She certainly isn’t sure because she hopes the hoopla about the viral video will have died down. If the press knew where she was, then it might create a circus that the Keller family wouldn’t appreciate. In MAYBE THIS ONCE, Charlie doesn’t tell the Gray and his family her true identity. Only her great uncle, Bernie, knows what is going on. There is great chemistry between Charlie and Gray in MAYBE THIS ONCE, and readers will be rooting for them to find love. She feels like she’s living on the edge, while he is starting to fall for her. At what point will she open up about who she is and why she is really there? They are certainly spending lots of time together, and the area is beginning to feel like maybe it’s a place for Charlie to settle down. But can she? While she is currently estranged from her mother, they still love one another. Will her viral video cause issues in Michigan? Can Charlie and Gray find love and a potential future together? Secrets always seem to come out when our characters least expect them to. Charlie and Gray are falling in love, but they can’t be happy until they bare their souls. Don’t miss the fun and intrigue in MAYBE THIS ONCE. Patti Fischer |
