Big Chance, Texas – Present Day

After becoming famous in social media and on a reality television show, Jen Greene has abandoned that career to start out on her own by buying a working ranch. Yes, it needs a lot of work, but Jen isn’t afraid of that. But the menagerie of animals she’s collected prove to be a handful, especially when one of her goats escapes from the pen. Ex-military turned dog rescuer Tanner Beauchamp is riding in his truck one day with his dog, Trixie, when the dog suddenly starts barking. Stopping to investigate, they discover a goat tangled in the briar patch. Soon, its owner, Jen, arrives. Tanner is a hard worker and, after seeing what Jen is trying to do with her ranch, offers to help her.

Tanner isn’t looking to bed Jen, though he must admit she’s mighty pretty. She is also stubborn in wanting to remain independent in running her ranch even though it will take a massive amount of work to do so. Tanner offers to help her, especially as her animals seem to always get out and she needs enclosures built. But after some mysterious acts happen that threaten Jen’s plans for the ranch, they can’t help but wonder if someone is trying to deliberately sabotage her. Is it related to the fact that her former business manager wants her to abandon her plans?

Jen is like a fish out of water in the truly fun CHARMING TEXAS COWBOY by Teri Anne Stanley. Jen and her mother, Joanie, made a name for themselves in online videos that went viral with their downhome appeal. But Jen doesn’t care for their manager, Brock, who is a domineering pompous jerk. After an embarrassing incident that went viral, Jen decides to embark on her own. She doesn’t know much about being a rancher, but she’s certainly not afraid to try. At first, Jen refuses Tanner’s help, but he does prove to be handy in helping her because of his expertise. Tanner has duties at the dog rescue ranch where he works but can spend plenty of time helping Jen. Of course, being around her is a big plus.

But Jen’s livelihood at the ranch is in jeopardy after mysterious things happen, like coming home and discovering the animal gates are open despite the fact that she knows they were closed and locked before she left. After an order of baby chicks disappears and then ends up dumped in her yard, Tanner decides to step in and help protect Jen. To me as a reader, I wasn’t too surprised to learn who was responsible. In CHARMING TEXAS COWBOY, we get to enjoy the discovery of it all because it leads Tanner to Jen. But is Tanner ready for a big commitment? He suffers from PTSD and refuses to delve deep into resolving the issues that caused it. Will Jen help him? Will they find love and a happily-ever-after?

A fun and entertaining romance with plenty of chuckles that will make CHARMING TEXAS COWBOY a book you won’t want to put down.
