Port Serenity, Alaska – Present Day

Isla Wakefield has traveled the world but now has returned to her hometown of Port Serenity to visit for a while. She is adventurous, and one day while out climbing a snow-covered mountain, she falls into a crevice. It is Coast Guard Chief Petty Officer Aaron Segura who is part of the rescue team. He has been a thorn in her side since they were children. In fact, she hates him. When the unconscious Isla wakes up in the hospital, she has no memory of who she is, but she does want to meet the nice handsome man who rescued her. Aaron intrigues her and she wants to get to know him better.

Aaron is known as a bit of a bore because he overemphasizes safety. As such, he rarely dates. When Isla tracks him down after the accident, he’s surprised that she wants to not only thank him (the old Isla would have insulted him) but also wants to get to know him. Ever since they were teenagers, he’s been attracted to her, but her attitude has always kept him at bay. A few dinners and time spent together have them falling in love. But Isla still has no memory of her old life. How will she react once she gets it back and learns she’s been cavorting with a guy she doesn’t even like?

ALASKA FOR CHRISTMAS is a fun, breezy tale just perfect for some wintertime reading. Isla is a free spirit who has the means to travel whenever possible. Her family lives in Port Serenity, so whenever she wants to wind down for a few weeks, she shows up. But after her accident, amnesiac Isla has trouble coming to grips with the fact that she has a huge trust fund and didn’t work. So, she goes about finding a job, though it is part-time for the Christmas holidays. She wants to make it on her own and not rely on her trust fund. Aaron continues to intrigue her, though he tries at first to avoid her. How can he resist a beautiful woman who wants to spend time with him?

Aaron realizes that keeping their true relationship secret from Isla is risky, but he likes being around her. Meanwhile, he is dealing with his own family relationships, namely trying to forget about his sister’s death from cancer during the Christmas holidays a couple of years ago. He hates Christmas, but it’s hard to explain to Isla why he doesn’t have a Christmas tree. Eventually, she convinces him to decorate a tree. Their relationship is going smoothly, yet Aaron fears that Isla will hate him even more when she gets her memory back. But it doesn’t stop him from falling in love with her.

With plenty of scenes bordering on funny and a relationship that goes from icy to red hot in a matter of days, ALASKA FOR CHRISTMAS is a book I highly recommend and one you won’t want to put down. Don’t miss the fun!
