The Present in Kismet, Pennsylvania

Caprice De Luca's and Grant Weatherford's wedding is fast approaching. The pair are deeply in love. Though they have known each other for a long time—Grant is Caprice's brother Vince's law partner—they have decided to postpone consummation until married. Understandably, they can hardly wait. The De Luca family is a close one, and Caprice's sisters, Nikki and Bella, along with her best friend Roz, are working hard to make it as perfect as possible.

Caprice had redecorated the updated local Rambling Vines Winery complex where the wedding reception is to be held. However, a glitch in the planning occurs that makes a cancellation there a likelihood. The winery is owned by Michelle and Travis Dodd. The glitch? The finding of Travis Dodd's murdered body in the tasting room.

Readers of this series will know that this is not the first time our heroine has been close to a murder. By now she's well known to the local police, even friends with at least one of them. Grant and her family know she's going to get involved. The wife of the murdered man even begs for her help. Isn't the spouse a natural suspect?

Ms. Smith writes novels filled with well-drawn characters and relationships, human, canine and feline. Expect couple troubles, in-law problems, jealousies, and we all know financial problems are often motivators. And with a Karen Rose Smith novel, you can also count on a visual experience. You can almost see Caprice's preferred vintage clothing and antiques in living color. You will also meet people you would like . . . and not.

I readily recommend this (and the previous) Caprice De Luca Mystery series. You might also check out her current series: Daisy's Tea Garden Mysteries . Both are very enjoyable.
