Charleston, South Carolina – Present Day

Chase Love is asked by his sister to meet and get to know socialite Teagan Burns, who has put an offer on the house that their mother has a sentimental attachment to, and the siblings want to buy for her. Chase doesn’t look forward to the plan as Teagan is well known to him for her meddling in the lives of his best friend and fiancé. But if the Love family wants to gain control of the mansion from their rascally uncle who refuses to sell to them, they are going to have to go through the buyer of it and convince her to sell it to them. Meeting Teagan, Chase is struck by her beauty, but he tries to tell himself not to fall for her.

Teagan was adopted by a New York family but has never felt like she belonged. Her real mother is from an old Charleston family, and she only recently connected with them. After some ups and downs, she is slowly trying to build a relationship with them. Buying the mansion in Charleston will be her first step to settling down here. She plans to turn it into a domestic violence shelter. Chase Love is attractive and attentive toward Teagan, and soon they are spending lots of time together. She knows that he wants the mansion, but it turns out that she’s not the only one who’s interested in it. As Chase and Teagan start to fall for each other, will the fate of the mansion come between them?

THE TROUBLE WITH LOVE AND HATE is the final book in the Sweet Tea and Scandal series, and up until this time, Teagan had been the evil one. Her actions and meddling between Chase’s best friend Ethan and her sister Sienna had almost split them up. Making Teagan the heroine of her tale had to be tough for the author because it meant redeeming her. But we soon see a vulnerable side of Teagan that she rarely lets others see. The only good her adoptive family saw in her was her beauty and they won’t let her into the family company because that’s a “man’s job” and the honor will go to the only son of the family. Finding her family in Charleston is a chance to start anew. However, acquiring the mansion for her project is turning out to be difficult as not only is there another offer (she suspects who it is) and because Chase wants to buy it from her for his mother.

Chase would do anything for his mother. Will this include seducing a woman he can barely stand at first? Teagan is beautiful and he soon learns that she can be wily, though not necessarily in a bad way. She keeps plenty of her secrets to herself. Will Chase be able to convince her to tell him not only what is going on, but accept his help?

THE TROUBLE WITH LOVE AND HATE has plenty of emotion and intrigue to keep readers involved in the story. Be sure to not miss this entertaining tale.
