Omaha, Nebraska – Present Day

Cherry is well known, but people don’t really know her. She’s a meme. People know her as the prototype for Baby, a major character in her husband Tom’s wildly popular virtual comic strip. But Cherry hates the notoriety and wishes it would all be swept under the rug. She can’t be the “fat girl everyone laughs at.” Cherry didn’t want it and thought her marriage vows to Tom meant that he would keep his work life separate from their love life. Unfortunately, it caused the end of their marriage, and he is in Los Angeles making a movie based on the comic strip while she remains in their home with a dog she never wanted. Then Cherry meets Russ, a man from her past, and he wants her. Can Cherry put Tom behind her and start a new life with Russ?

CHERRY BABY is the tale of a complicated journey for Cherry. She has accepted her fat life. In fact, her mother, and her sisters, except for one, are all fat. Everyone is happy, even if they occasionally snap at each other. Cherry met Tom, and he instantly fell in love with Cherry. They married, and he did his comic strip on the side while both worked. Cherry loves her job and likes telling people, including Tom, how to do their job. Everything seemed perfect until Tom’s comic strip, Thursday, went viral. Since Baby looked a lot like Cherry, everyone thought she was Baby. Baby is fat, and she is mocked. But once he signed on to make Thursday a movie and he left for Los Angeles, their relationship fell apart. He thought she could drop everything and visit him there. But she has a job, and she isn’t going to quit it to become dependent on Tom, especially when their marriage is shaky.

Meanwhile, Russ is a nice, divorced single father. They knew each other in college, but he dated Cherry’s best friend, Stacia. Cherry is concerned about how Stacia will feel if she starts dating Russ, but to her surprise, once the shock is over, she is given the green light. Almost immediately, Russ and Cherry are having sex. While he has heard of Thursday, he doesn’t realize how much she hates being constantly recognized for it. Cherry talks to Tom from time to time, and she knows they are headed for a divorce, but neither has filed the papers or met with a lawyer. Then Tom returns to Omaha. He is there to finish up things and pack up his belongings from their shared home. But it’s proving hard to do when they have invested so much in their relationship. Cherry is determined to end her time with Tom.

CHERRY BABY revolved around Cherry and her relationships with Tom and Russ. I won’t give any hints as to how it all ends, but let’s just say Cherry has a lot of thinking to do. Is it really over with Tom? Is Russ helping her turn a page onto a new life? This tale will make you cry and make you laugh. Cherry is relatable. She’s not perfect, but she offers no apologies for being who she is. She may even decide that she doesn’t need a man in her life. You will need to pick up a copy of CHERRY BABY to find out how it all works out.
