Dr. Isabelle Mercado is busy finishing up her surgical residency at a prestigious hospital and aiming to snag an interview for a position at a top hospital in Boston. It’s all she’s worked at since starting college more than ten years ago. The only man in her life, Blake, comes and goes. Isabelle will be leaving soon for a two-week vacation in France, where she’ll be the maid of honor at her best friend Selena’s wedding to a billionaire. One day, Selena informs Isabelle that Blake will be at the wedding, along with his fiancée. She is stunned that Blake is engaged, and now she is worried about how it will look if she doesn’t show up with a plus-one. Soccer legend Austin Cade is recovering from an injury and pondering what his next career move will be. His agent is pushing him into coaching, but Austin isn’t sure that’s what he wants to do. While attending a follow-up appointment at the medical center, he encounters Isabelle. She’s no-nonsense and good at her job. She is also beautiful. Later, Austin is the prize at a charity auction for soccer lessons and is won by Selena, who hands him over to Isabelle. Why? Because instead of soccer lessons, she wants him to pretend to be her boyfriend at Selena’s wedding. Pretending to be a couple works out well for Isabelle and Austin in OUT OF HER LEAGUE. In fact, they meet Blake right away in Paris, and it looks like he’s jealous. Or is Isabelle jealous of Blake’s fiancée? She will have to deal with her emotions in regard to the situation as Austin looks on. He isn’t sure if the attraction that he’s feeling toward Isabelle will be one-sided or if the chemistry between them is real. They share a room and attend the events. Let’s just say that it doesn’t take long before the bed is no longer being split in half. The sexual chemistry between Isabelle and Austin is scorching, as are the feelings that spill over into their actions toward each other. She is hoping to win the job. But she soon finds herself wondering if pursuing a relationship with Austin should be her priority. Isabelle’s parents are both surgeons, but her father is one of the top Orthopedic Surgeons in the United States, if not the world, while her mother is just a lowly General Surgeon. Her mother gave up the chance to aim higher after she became pregnant with Isabelle. Her father is pressuring Isabelle to reach for the top spot, with marriage and children not even considered. Meanwhile, her love life had been nearly extinct, except for a few random nights with Blake. But it’s all changed now that she’s met Austin. Austin has his own issues. He might have been a top soccer player, but being retired has people turning their backs on him. He had stepped away from the sport due to the injury and to continue to help his late best friend’s wife and daughter. He wants a new career, but it will take financial support. Going with Isabelle to the ultra-rich wedding should help him find contacts. Isabelle and Austin battle each other and themselves as they grapple with their feelings and futures. Each wants to achieve their goal, and a romance between them will either help them or hurt them. Readers will be rooting for them to make it all work out. Don’t miss OUT OF HER LEAGUE.
