Harper’s parents fought each other and used her as a pawn in their countless power struggles. Ballet was the one thing she could use to lose herself in, and not their battles. Nathan was raised by his single mother, who is the ultimate dance mom. She pushed him to be the best, and he was, but the constant striving to be better got to him, so he finally walked away, much to his mother’s displeasure. Their relationship today is still strained. Harper and Nathan use their shared painful childhood to connect. While he tells her that he doesn’t miss ballet, could she interest him in dancing for the charity event? Meanwhile, Nathan continues to build Harper’s deck, plus he buys a nearby cottage with the intention of remodeling it and then selling it.
