Summertown, Illinois – Present Day

After bad things happened to her in Chicago, Haddie Martin is looking for a fresh start in Summertown as the girls’ soccer coach. Stopping on her way there, she decides to spend the night at a hotel. But first, she heads into the bar for a drink and runs into a handsome man trying to escape the silly shenanigans going on at his friend’s wedding reception. Feeling giddy, Haddie accepts his invitation to his hotel room, only to chicken out while he goes off to get condoms. Haddie figures she will never see him again, until she learns that he is the new boys’ soccer coach at the same school.

Levi Rourke grew up in Summertown and is only back now because he is on leave from his college football coaching job after he was suspended. He knows nothing about soccer, but it’s a job, and he is surrounded by his family and old friends. He can’t forget about the almost one-night stand and is surprised when he learns that not only is she the new girls’ soccer coach, but they will be sharing the same two-bedroom apartment. It isn’t that they want to share, but they really have no choice. They can keep things platonic, right? Time will tell, but there’s definitely some heated sexual chemistry between them.

Haddie and Levi have a funny and interesting “meet cute” in ALMOST ONE NIGHT STAND. There she is, in a bar by herself ordering a drink, and he is intrigued by her and comes up to join her. They banter back and forth, teasing each other. But their planned night together is derailed when she chickens out. Neither expected to see the other. As it turns out, Levi’s brother is marrying Haddie’s best friend, which means both will be part of the wedding party. They can’t avoid each other, either at work, at home, or in social situations. At first, they tease each other and get along well, but it’s only a matter of time before their attraction rises again.

There are several laugh-out-loud moments in this enjoyable tale. Haddie is trying to rebuild her life, as is Levi. They turn out to be supportive of each other and become best friends. But their sexual chemistry won’t go away, as they become increasingly aware of each other. Haddie tries to ignore it, but at a fitting for the bridesmaid gown turns into a situation where Levi has to rescue her, and their attraction can no longer be denied. While their friends and family play a part in this tale, it is mostly about Haddie and Levi in ALMOST ONE NIGHT STAND. Readers will laugh and cry for them as they fall in love. Yet, despite it all, things might end before it’s barely begun. Their road to love isn’t as easy as they thought.

If you love a well-written tale that is passionate and funny, then you will surely enjoy ALMOST ONE NIGHT STAND.
