Texas - The Present

The Milan and the Calhoun families have been feuding since the Civil War. That didn't stop Jake Calhoun and Madison Milan from falling head over heels in love in high school; however, Jake never appeared on the day he and sixteen-year old Madison were to elope. Anger has festered in Madison ever since. Now she knows what so many of her family believe: no Calhoun can be trusted. She has her art career and the family's Double M ranch her father deeded her.

After thirteen years, Jake Calhoun has a plan for revenge against Madison and her family, which will get him what he wants—mineral rights on a stretch of Milan land bordering the Calhoun ranch. He has the map to a hidden treasure handed down through the generations of his family, one of not only buried gold, but also a deed; one giving the property he wants from the Milan ranch to the Calhoun family. He needs Madison's permission to search for the treasure. Madison agrees when he tells her she can have the gold, he just wants to find the bones of his ancestors, killed in a gunfight at the site. What he fails to plan for is his unexpected physical response to Madison.

THE TEXAN'S FORBIDDEN FIANCEE contains a touch of Romeo and Juliet gone wrong. Lots of trouble brews in Verity, Texas, where these two families own land. Hate based on events that took place a hundred years ago and the tit-for-tat between the generations ever since makes romance seem impossible. Each family is rich and influential, and the sons and daughters all practice their preferred professions. Anger, suspicion, and lust infect Madison and Jake as they begin their hunt, but if they find the legendary treasure of the past, will the discovery end their relationship forever? How can either Madison or Jake overcome their and their families' past differences? Certainly, great sacrifice and forgiveness will help, but it is a story that will leave some readers wondering if the romance can last.
