New York City

Three little girls from Maine, friends since they were six, are all grown up now and living in New York City. When they were let go from their jobs—the event planning firm where they all worked downsized—they courageously formed their own firm. It's called Urban Genie and they do most anything . . . plan events, walk dogs . . . all kinds of things. All three have different personalities and different talents. After overcoming ill health as a child, Paige Walker is a good business manager and people person. Her story is told in last June's SLEEPLESS IN MANHATTAN. Eva Jordan is the soft-hearted romantic one. We will learn if she ever finds the love she craves in December's MIRACLE ON FIFTH AVENUE.

SUNSET IN CENTRAL PARK is Frankie Cole's tale. She's the plant and flower expert and is happy to grow things in her apartment and on the roof garden of their building. The Brooklyn brownstone is owned by Paige's brother Matt, and they all four live there. He's a landscape architect and a good friend of Frankie's. He's about the only man she has ever been comfortable with. Her parents' divorce, followed by her mother's outré behavior was traumatic for Frankie. She doesn't believe in love or happy-ever-afters. She does beautiful flowers for the weddings they put on, but then she's ready to go home. Will she ever come out of hiding? She wears ugly glasses she doesn't need just so no man will find her attractive; she doesn't own a dress. Will she ever think of Matt as more than a friend?

No reader can fail to be moved by the lead characters in this series and the way they grow and come into their own. SUNSET IN CENTRAL PARK starts slowly, and I wondered if it might have made a better novella. But that didn't last long; I soon fell into the grip of the plot and kept reading and reading until the satisfying conclusion.
