Half Moon Hollow, Kentucky - Present Day

Gigi Scanlon is starting her very first grown-up job, even though her sister doesn't exactly approve.  Iris Scanlon may have worked for vampires for years before marrying one and then turning into one herself, but she doesn't want her baby sister working for the not quite trustworthy Council (The World Council for the Equal Treatment of the Undead).  Gigi found her calling in computer programming, and the benefits of working with the Council outweigh the risky aspects of the job.  Having spent so much time with vampires means that Gigi has a healthy respect for how dangerous they can be, but she isn't exactly afraid of them, and her brother-in-law Cal's self-defense training has Gigi feeling as if she can hold her own.  Of course, she hadn't expected to be attacked in the parking lot on her first day.  Worse, her attacker is the vampire who gave her a toe-curling kiss at Christmas and then virtually disappeared.

When Cal calls on his friend Nikolai Dragomirov to protect her, Gigi once again comes face-to-face with her attacker/hit-and-run kisser.  Only Nik has no memory of either the attack that happened less than an hour earlier, or the kiss he laid on her months before.  Gigi's overprotective family immediately decides that she needs to stay away from Nik, but Gigi is not a teenager anymore.  She and Nik end up working together, and she realizes that when he doesn't resemble a zombie and attack her, Nik's actually a great guy.  Her experience with the supernatural tells Gigi that Nik's memory lapses and homicidal tendencies may have a magical reason behind them, but how can she find out what is going on without her sister getting in the way?

Readers can once again return to the interesting world of Half Moon Hollow in THE DANGERS OF DATING A REBOUND VAMPIRE.  Gigi was first introduced as a high schooler who made a few questionable dating choices in her sister's novel, THE CARE AND FEEDING OF STRAY VAMPIRES.  She's grown up quite a bit, but it's not always easy to get her family to understand that – especially the vampires who have been around for centuries.  She's had quite a few quick glimpses of Nik over the months, but they were so quick that she wasn't sure that it wasn't just her imagination.  Even the sizzling kiss that turned her world upside-down is causing doubts, right up until she officially meets Nik.  He swears he'd never spoken to her before, and while she's not sure what to believe, she can't help but be charmed by him. Even when Gigi can't help but think she's like every stupid horror movie victim she sees only the best in him.  Told in first-person from Gigi's point of view, we are treated to her quirky sense of humor as she falls in love in her own self-proclaimed star-crossed lovers' way.

In addition to the Scanlon sisters, fans will also get a chance to catch up with other residents of Half Moon Hollow, including Jane Jameson and her husband, Gabriel Nightingale (from the NICE GIRLS series), and their family.  Jane's child, Jamie, is one of Gigi's best friends, but he's also blood mates with her boss Ophelia, which can make things a little awkward in the work place.  If you haven't read the earlier stories, some of the references may not make sense, but overall this is really Gigi and Nik's book.  A fun vampire romance with a bit of suspense, THE DANGERS OF DATING A REBOUND VAMPIRE is a book I highly recommend.
