Haven, Nevada – Present Day Single dad Andrew Morrow first came to Haven to meet with an old friend about the possibility of opening a bakery. He ran into Sarah Stafford and the two hit it off and they landed in bed together. She thought he was just passing through, so she is surprised to see him six weeks later when she learns he bought the local bakery. While neither is looking for a romance, Sarah contacts Andrew about baking some special cupcakes for a friend, which he does. To repay him, she brings him a meal, and while they are finishing up, his daughters arrive to move in with him. Sarah didn’t realize he had two daughters. Things are awkward at first. Sarah realizes that being a father is more important to Andrew than dating, so she decides to just maintain a friendship with him. But the more they are around each other, the more they continue to flirt. The oldest daughter, Tilda, is having issues with settling in and doesn’t like Sarah. The younger girl, Lilah, takes a liking to Sarah. The problem with not having a relationship with someone you like is that you can’t hide your true feelings. Will Sarah and Andrew finally get a chance to take their romance public? Sarah comes from a prominent family in Haven, which has left her jaded when it comes to romance because the guys are more interested in her family connections than who she is as a woman. At first, she doesn’t tell Andrew who her relatives are, which allows them to fall for each other in A RANCHER OF HIS OWN. But she can breathe a sigh of relief when he makes it clear after revealing that once he knew the connection that it doesn’t make any difference to him. However, she still has to win over his daughters. Andrew left Texas to start his new life and new venture mostly because his ex-wife decided to move to California. Nevada is closer than when he lived in Texas, and he has primary custody of the girls. He is sensitive to how hard the move and the divorce have been on Tilda and Lilah, which is why he hesitates to get involved with Sarah. But he likes her…a lot. They are perfect together and he loves his girls. He has to figure out how to navigate his needs and wants. Tilda is having issues, and he must put her first. Can he also have a future with Sarah? Having not read the previous books in the Match Made in Haven series, I found that I could read A RANCHER OF HIS OWN without too much trouble. There are a lot of family and friend connections that come up in this book. One thing for sure is…come to Haven and plan on hooking up with your one true love! An entertaining and intriguing tale, so be sure to grab a copy of A RANCHER OF HIS OWN. Patti Fischer |
