Audrey Martinez is a veterinarian whose entire life revolves around horses.  She works exclusively for two high-end horse farms along with her rescue work for abused horses, sometimes through her home clinic.  David Warner, a friend of her father's who owns an auction house dealing with horses and livestock, calls one night about four sick horses.  Along with her sister Maddy, they rush over to David's to see what is going on.  After tests and observation Audrey determines the four horses lying on the ground have probably been poisoned, but can she find out by what before they die?

Caleb and Brice Harper are visiting David's auction house when they learn what is happening with the horses.  They immediately call their sister Abby's husband, Clayton East, owner of East Ranch, for help getting the security cameras working again.  This disaster could ruin David's business, and Caleb is determined to help. 

Caleb is originally attracted to Audrey, but his life has been one woman after another, never getting close to one in case she left him.  Which is just what his mother did when he was six years old, his brother Brice nine, and his sister Abby eighteen.  Caleb can only depend on his family, Clayton, his sister's husband, and now Naomi, Brice's new wife.  Audrey's story is similar; after her mother died, her father was so broken up he just left, and hasn't been heard from again.  Audrey also doesn't trust a man to stick around through thick and thin.  But then Maddy is attacked at their house getting more supplies for Audrey, and their safety becomes the group's priority.

Secondary characters are all of Caleb's family and other close friends, and Audrey's sister Maddy. 

MY FAVORITE COWBOY is jam-packed with action and mystery, and yet the trauma of being left behind by a parent who should have loved them still has repercussions for Caleb and Audrey.  Caleb especially worries about not being lovable enough, when his mother ignored him as he begged her to stay that awful day.  Audrey and Caleb take turns being hard-headed, until they both realize a great love is just beyond their fingertips if they will just reach out.  Enjoy MY FAVORITE COWBOY, following THE CHRISTMAS COWBOY HERO (Abby's story) and COWBOY, CROSS MY HEART (Brice's story).  These stories will show you the true power of family love.
