Upstate New York - Present Day
A writer is always a writer and for Jane Fairfax (aka Austen) it's all she's known. Modern day America has posed some challenges for the author of Pride and Prejudice, not the least of which is keeping the fact that she's a vampire secret. As a bookstore owner in a small town, Jane has been relatively unknown and safe. But the publishing success of her latest book, Constance , has put Jane squarely into the spotlight, just as she's trying to be invisible, literally.
But Jane has more to worry about than the success of her book. First, a camera crew has come to town to film both a story about Jane and the screenplay adapted from Jane's book. Second, her annoying neighbor has started giving tours to the homes of local authors in the New England area, and Jane's house is always surrounded by fans. Third, and probably scariest, Jane's boyfriend's mother is coming to town. And finally, Jane's next book is at least six months late, her new editor hates her work, and writer's block is a serious issue.
With all the pressures surrounding her, not the least of which is the need to master her vampiric powers, Jane is slowly going...batty!
JANE GOES BATTY is a funny, smart, well-crafted book that will keep you glued to the pages and chuckling at Jane's adventures, or should I say misadventures. Lord Byron, yes that one, has returned in this wonderful follow-up to JANE BITES BACK to pester and annoy Jane while also acting as her comedic foil. Other secondary characters add background and complexity to the mystery unfolding in Jane's small town. This book has a little bit for everyone. If you like the classics, you'll enjoy the references. If you like physical comedy, you won't be disappointed. And, if you're enjoying the rapid rise of the vampire genre, JANE GOES BATTY is your cherry on the top. Pick up your copy today.
