THE GAME CHANGER – Lana Ferguson Delilah Baker is the darling of a baking show on a food channel, but the ratings are starting to drop. Her producers were looking for ways to bring in viewers and came up with an idea to have Delilah show hockey players from the local pro team how to bake. Sounds like a somewhat good idea except the first player brought on the show is none other than Ian Chase, who happens to be her brother’s best friend and the man she once had a crush on. How will she keep focused on showing him how to cook on live TV when she wants to jump his bones? Ian was born and raised in Boston, and his father owns the pro hockey team. But six years ago, he was traded to a team up north after his very public marriage broke up. It wasn’t that Ian and his ex-wife were fighting, it was just that his father didn’t like the bad optics. Meanwhile, Ian got involved with someone else and that relationship broke up, causing a public relations nightmare. He got traded back to Boston and his father is as unpleasant as ever. Ian knows Delilah as he’s been friends with her brother Jack forever, but he doesn’t realize that she’s all grown up and deliciously beautiful. She’s a great cook too. They do the show, and it turns out to be a big hit. In fact, people think they are a couple. Delilah and Ian’s PR people think it will be a great opportunity to pretend to be a real couple. The problem is that they are starting to fall for each other. Will a fake relationship turn into a real one? Ian and Delilah always had a bit of an acrimonious relationship through the years because he never took her seriously. Ian and Jack didn’t want the little sister hanging around them. But in the years since Ian has been away from Boston, Delilah has grown up nicely and started a career as a food show host after training in France. They bicker at first around each other, yet there is an awareness between them that shines through the camera lens. Everyone picks up on it even as they deny there is an attraction brewing. They do agree to go along with the “pretend dating” idea because both need free publicity. For Delilah, it would help her show’s ratings, and for Ian, it would help him get past the bad publicity surrounding his last breakup. As they begin to act upon their mutual attraction, it becomes imperative that they not tell Jack because he is an overprotective big brother who thinks Ian would try to get Delilah into his bed. Well, he is not wrong but there is a lot more going on between them than just lust. Secrets swirl around them and as they come out, how will it affect Delilah and Ian’s relationship? THE GAME CHANGER is a fun tale to read that revolves around the world of hockey and baking. Ian and Delilah are two likable characters trying to do the right thing, even as those around them try to tell them what to do. Readers will enjoy their banter and watching them fall in love. Don’t miss this enjoyable tale. Patti Fischer |
