Aspen Creek, Colorado – Present Day Malcolm Wilson and Veronica Kendrick were once the best of friends, but they had a falling out. He moved to Chicago where he is successful in investment banking but returns occasionally to Aspen Creek, where she is now the town’s librarian. Malcolm is home to visit his parents and for a retirement party for a beloved educator who is retiring. Veronica barely acknowledges him when she runs into him. Her friends rib her about her reaction to Malcolm because hate and love are nearly the same intense emotion. She denies that she has feelings for him, but after he asks for her forgiveness, the thaw begins. As Veronica and Malcolm begin to spend time together, they start to care more for each other than that of friends. But he will be returning to Chicago, while her life remains in Aspen Creek. THE COWBOY WHO CAME HOME is an “old friends turn into lovers” that is enjoyable and sweet. Malcolm was raised on his parents’ ranch, but his father is growing older and wants to retire. As an only child, Malcolm must help decide as to what to do with the ranch. A neighbor of Veronica’s tells her about a rumor that the Wilson Ranch will be sold to a manufacturing company and isn’t happy about it. Veronica knows nothing about it, but she gets hints from Malcolm that he is at a crossroads with regards to the ranch. Will this info play a role in their future together? Veronica’s father left her and her mother when she was a child, and it left them in near poverty despite her father having a good job. In this tale, she receives a letter from her younger half-sister wanting to meet her. Will Veronica decide to meet the woman she has never met? Her father abandoned her, so why should she want a relationship with the daughter he loved and raised? Malcolm was recently betrayed by a woman he was dating after he found out that she was only seeing him to try and steal company secrets from him. For these reasons, Malcolm and Veronica both have trust issues when it comes to romantic relationships. They should be full speed ahead on falling in love when they realize how much they care for each other, but trusting a romantic partner is hard. Will they get over their issues and forge a future together? An intriguing and enjoyable romance right from the start, readers won’t want to miss THE COWBOY WHO CAME HOME.
