Whidbey Island, Washington – Present Day

Elin fled to Whidbey Island to escape the deadly danger that stalks her.  She has found some measure of safety, though she is never truly safe from the Fairy Queen, but more importantly she has found  a man who makes her want to stay and fight, rather than flee from danger again.

Sean Black is second in command to his pack leader Niles.  He takes his responsibilities seriously and doesn't let anything or anyone interfere with his duty.  Except Elin.  She is beautiful, mysterious, sexy, and in need of protection.  Sean believes Elin is his one true mate, but his pack mates don't trust her.  Her connection to the Queen of the Fae makes the pack hounds wary of letting her into their world.  Sean wants Elin in every way, but a secret from Sean's past keeps him from claiming her for his own.

Elin has secrets of her own, but her desire for Sean makes her determined to overcome the danger and secrets between them and become his mate for all time.

All is not peaceful in the small town of Chimney Rock, and not everyone is who or what they seem.  Women have been disappearing.  Some of them return with no memory of where they have been.  Others are never seen again.  There is an evil presence in the town that could spell the destruction of the hounds and the other paranormal creatures who call Chimney Rock home.

DARKNESS BRED picks up where DARKNESS BOUND ends.  Just when you thought it was safe, a new and more deadly danger approaches that could destroy not only Elin and Sean but the entire town.  A monster bent on destruction and power, this new enemy may be impossible to beat.  Inhabiting the small town of Chimney Rock are the Hounds, witches, vampires and Fae.  The characters are well developed, and the pace is fast.  While DARKNESS BOUND seemed crammed with more information than I could absorb, it was, in actuality, a lighter, less dark story than DARKNESS BRED.  I loved Sean in the first book and loved him even more in this book.  Elin is an enigmatic creature.  When we first meet her in the previous book, she is a shape shifter and the daughter of the Fae Queen.  We learn in this book that there is much more to Elin than simply shape shifting. Sally, the exiled Fae, and Saul, the good vampire, again feature prominently in DARKNESS BRED and add much to the story.  I enjoyed DARKNESS BOUND and recommend it to fans of paranormal romance.

DARKNESS BRED is the second book in Stella Cameron's Chimney Rock paranormal series.  I've been a long time fan of Ms. Cameron's work and have read all her historical and romantic suspense novels and am now a fan of her paranormal writings. Fast paced and entertaining, don't miss this entertaining and suspenseful novel!
