Orchard Harbor, Michigan – Present Day

Maddie Briars is looking for a fresh start in Orchard Harbor by opening a boutique catering business on Main Street. But first, the building she purchased needs to be extensively remodeled. She has hired the contractor, and they are about to start. Her best friends, Tasha and Celeste, invite her out for a night at a local winery. Unfortunately, shortly after the trio arrives, Maddie’s friends are called away, and she is left alone. After a group takes over the table she’s at, she is rescued by a man whom she’d noticed at the bar. He introduces himself as Jake Winn. They get flirty with each other, and the night ends with a kiss. However, neither Maddie nor Jake realizes how connected they are. He is assigned by his boss the job of renovating her shop, and he also lives in the upstairs apartment just above hers. Let’s just say their second introduction to each other wasn’t as pleasant as the first.

THE FIX-UP FEUD is the first book in a new series that takes place in a fictional town along Lake Michigan. Maddie has led a relatively sheltered life as she lived with her parents until she decided to join her best friends in Orchard Harbor. She’s always had dreams of opening a catering business, and she is about to realize them once the building is remodeled. After clashing with Jake twice—once at the shop and again at her home after the pipes above her burst, let’s just say that they aren’t friendly anymore. The kiss is forgotten. It’s time to pull out the boxing gloves. Well, not exactly…

Jake had put a bid on the building that Maddie ultimately bought, so he’s feeling a bit sore-headed over that. There are also a lot of problems with the building, and they argue over her planned designs. He’s determined to prove that he can succeed after being raised by a gambling addicted father who couldn’t pay his debts. Jake has a lack of self-confidence at times, which means he wants to do well to prove he isn’t like his father. Maddie doesn’t understand it, though she hears from other people about how Jake was/is wild and can’t be trusted. And now he is renovating both her business and the building she’s living in. One can see why she wants to steer clear of him in her personal life. Alas, there’s a big attraction developing between them.

Other than a few kisses between Maddie and Jake, most of THE FIX-UP FEUD focuses on their battling each other and the emotions flowing between them. They want to be successful, but it’s like something is putting up barriers. Can they come together to make it all work out and find love along the way? Don’t miss finding out the answer by picking up a copy of THE FIX-UP FEUD.
