Sheriff Gabriel Anderson, Second to the Marshall of the Halle Puma Pride, is normally a very bright man. However, when he’s picked by the Shifter’s Senate to become a Hunter (an elite shifter cop) and told he must leave Halle immediately for a six-month training period, he does the dumbest thing possible; he leaves without claiming his mate, Sarah.

Sarah Parker, a member of the Halle Puma Pride, knows that Gabe has been given an honor, and though she’s justifiably proud of him, she can’t believe the fool man thought leaving without claiming her first was a good idea. As the months pass and their long-distance relationship grows strained, she starts to wonder if he’s really intending to be her mate, or if Chloe, the Fox waitress at the local diner, is more to his taste. Hmph, maybe she’ll just have to shrug off her sorrow with the aid of Jim, the handsome local vet.

Hoo boy, Gabe may not have intended it, but boy did he mess up big time, and if he can’t fix it, he’ll be saying “Sarah is mine, but ONLY IN MY DREAMS.”

Gabe is gorgeous, dominant, and the kind of male who can make a woman feel safe, even when he’s got her trussed to his bed (not my thing, but he makes it seem like an option worth considering). Sarah is sweet and, to my mind, incredibly patient given the things that go on while Gabe’s gone (or even after he comes home). However, she’s no pushover, and Gabe is gonna be one surprised bad boy when he realizes how determined she can be.

Adding to the drama and lending humor to the story are many of the Halle Pride members: Max and Emma who are getting married in this book (at Disney World; what a great setting!), Becky and Simon and, of course, Adrian and Sheri. Rick (Alpha of the Poconos Wolf Pack) and his Luna, Belle are also front and center. And I can’t forget Chloe and Jim, both of whom stand in real danger of being torn to shreds by Gabe and Sarah respectively at various points in this tale. Many of these secondary characters can be learned about in more detail in previous Halle Puma books (see www.danamariebell for a complete list). I recommend reading them in order for full enjoyment (and besides, they’re all so great who’d want to skip one?).

Will Gabe be able to convince Sarah that she’s the only one for him, or has he effectively destroyed both their lives? You’ll have to read this funny, emotional book to find out. By the way, since I know you’ll be attached to Dana Marie Bell’s shifters after reading this series, I thought you should know a new series, Halle Shifters, is on its way which should put a stop to any shifter withdrawal and give readers a chance to spy on some favorite characters while getting to know new ones.
